Summer 2018 across North America is already shaping up to be a hot one, driving home owners in doors as they crank the A/C for that much needed relief from unbearable heat and humidity. We’ll guess what, you are not the only ones coming indoors to escape the heat… Mice Are Right On Your Heels!
As a bit of an aside, it is predicted the highest growth in energy consumption will arise from powering growing numbers of A\C units around the world. Mice are relieved at our expense.
Ok back to the point of the article. Not only are we humans scampering for shade and comfort, so to are the animals. One in particular – mice – for which we normally think of as escaping the extreme cold. But it turns out mice also have as much a penchant for a sweet 1500 to 3000 BTU airconditioned dwelling on those scorching days as we do.
As your home’s cracks ooze currents of lovely cool air, mice have learned the rewards of following those air currents to the source. We can officially say, putting on the shades on a nice hot day while lying back on a soft bed of grass and leaf litter while sipping an old rain puddle basking in the sun are things of the past, mice readily give up that life for a cool, dark wall cavity luxuriously serviced by you’re air conditioning unit. And from there, if they find a way into your basement or other cooler spots they are truly in paradise.
All this to tell you your beloved A/C can be a double edge sword if you are the type of person that doesn’t like field mice popping out from behind the fridge, nor chewing up your inner walls keeping you awake or leaving feces in the closet on your favorite shoes or dare we mention the laundry hamper.
We aren’t suggesting you get rid of you’re A/C after all our company is called Rid-O-Mice, not Rid-O-A/C. What we are saying is, there are more times of the year to fight mice problems than initially imagined. The fact you are reading this article is a good thing, since you know about weep holes and how mice enter homes. Most people don’t have a clue and learn the hard way if at all. You also have the opportunity to learn why stainless steel weep hole covers are the best answer for stopping mice while maintaining health of your inner wall cavity moisture levels on those hot hot days.
The fact you have all this knowledge puts you in a great position to enjoy the comfort of your home in all seasons without sharing your space with nasty house mice. If you haven’t installed your covers you can get yours here (link). You can also learn about other places mice get in (link) and take action for those cracks as well.
Given most new brick homes have air-conditioning as well as mice…. yes just about every home has mice, and given your newfound knowledge, which is superior to the majority of North American home owners at this point, doesn’t it make sense to tell your friends and neighbors? After all, we are all up against this threat.
